Breakfast at the AC Hotel La Rioja by Marriott (Logroño - La Rioja)
It is very pleasant to enjoy a good breakfast after a peaceful night, in a comfortable hotel with a pleasant atmosphere, where the large shower tray is going to surprise you, since they have not removed the bathtub: both elements are there. A varied breakfast, in a very pleasant space and with very direct and friendly service. A great hotel to enjoy after days of work or sightseeing, in our case the latter.
We are on a gastronomy page and the title refers to a food-related theme, but very often, almost always, the surroundings, the atmosphere, the service, … influence and enhance the value of what we are going to enjoy at the table, as happens in this case. We cannot resist highlighting two aspects that we found very appreciated when assessing the category of a hotel, in addition to the 4 stars it is rated with.
The first, besides a pleasant reception, is the parking spaces: spacious, sufficient given how many there are, and easy to access. The other aspect is the spacious room with a detail that is valuable these days: it has a full-size shower tray (one meter long) as well as a full, standard-size bathtub, both in the same room. We had never seen this before, but we think it is a great idea for older people. But let’s move on to the breakfast.
Breakfast is served in the dining room on the first floor, a pleasant space with large tables and a wide selection, as well as good coffee (fortunately for those of us who take our coffee black, there are capsule machines so you can make it to your liking), freshly squeezed fruit juices that are continuously replenished, still and sparkling mineral waters, and milks of different kinds.
We always start with a black coffee; it seems to wake us up and get us ready. We always look over the entire offering first, so we can choose mentally and avoid taking something we will later have to leave on the plate. The buffet, as we always say, is there for you to serve yourself whatever you like and to get up as many times as you wish, but please, eat everything you have served yourself.
We make a tour in which we find, in the “cold” section, a varied selection of cold cuts, an assortment of cheeses, smoked salmon, sandwiches of different compositions, soft-boiled eggs, … Among the hot dishes, scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, and Spanish potato omelette. All of very good quality and preparation.
If you like fruit, you will find already prepared and ready to eat fresh pineapple, melon, orange and mandarin, but if you want other fresh fruits there are pieces of orange, apple, banana, … And moving on to coffees, from hot milk to which you can add Cola-Cao, Nesquik, chocolate or coffee, and a delicious assortment of pastries and mini pastries, as well as cereals in individual boxes. Different kinds of herbal teas are also available.
We say pastries or mini pastries because we enjoyed some delicious sponge cakes and an exquisite quesada pasiega, which we imagine has a Cantabrian recipe given its rich body and quality. As for the mini pastries, also replenished frequently: mini croissants, mini ensaimadas, … that is, the usual pastries in mini size. A great breakfast that completes this pleasant stay at this hotel, which is also close to the city center. Highly recommended.
